From HWY 3D comes the digital short, My Dream 3D, a performance art piece featuring the China Disabled People's Performing Arts Troupe (CDPPAT). A remarkable aspect of this performance (which may not be known upon first viewing) is the fact that the performers are all deaf, using visual cues to create an incredible dance of rigorously synchronized movements.

With that in mind, My Dream 3D is pure spectacle. Running at a short 12 minutes, the performers are lined in a row and enact precise but beautiful movements sure to bewilder viewers. A musical and visual piece, the film has the feel of a stage show. But angle and perception is key to the artistry of the performance. In that sense, a theatrical and three-dimensional exhibition of this dance is perhaps the ideal format.

A Giant Screen 40-minute version is said to be in the works. However, the brief but spectacular dance in this digital version is perhaps perfect as is. A behind-the-scenes view during the credits is a nice touch. It would be interesting to see how exactly the performance was put together. In the end, the lack of words, a sufficient musical score and some remarkable performers create this short but surprisingly engaging film.
