Journey to Mecca: In the Footsteps of Ibn Battuta

Three friends and I went to see this film last night at the Science World IMAX Theatre in Vancouver, British Columbia.
From my point of view I found the film to be both breathtaking and beautiful for different reasons. First, the brilliance of the IMAX technology still leaves me breathless every time I watch a film. But more than that this particular film with it's vistas of desert terrain, the vastness of the journey that so many devotees of Abraham and Islam embark on, is overwhelming. I found myself wanting to trek to Mecca. Wondering why I had not done this. Questioning why I needed to use three types of gel in the morning before I can leave the house. Why I do not walk more places and also looking at my belief system around a different culture. I am so grateful that this film has been made and is readily available to the Western world, where perhaps we need to broaden our scope of our brothers and sisters around the world. To embrace them as part of ourselves and stop seeing them as 'those people'.
This film brought home the understanding that if 'those people' can have such devotion to a beautiful and deep spiritual journey, perhaps I can too. All I have ever wanted is Peace. Perhaps it's not too late to see the world differently and live together in diversity, peacefully. Post Your Own >> | Register >>

I would love to obtain this film on blu-ray.
For me too, it was the first film that I saw as a child at the Cinesphere in Ontario Place.
The arial photography was nothing but awesome!!!
Bill Houston's singing of Ojibway Country was perfect for this film.
I have a buch of Imax Movies in blu-ray but I think that this one would be the best of them all.
This probably was the most seen Imax film in Canada, so I'm sure that sales of this movie in blu-ray would go through the roof, (if properly promoted).
Figures that its not available.

T, too was forever moved by this film. Being a teenager and watching this at Ontario Place was breathtaking! It made me proud of our province and our country! It is because of this film that one of my yet to experience goals is to ride in a glider. Pleeeeese make this available for us to share forever! Post Your Own >> | Register >>

A movie with many inaccuracies and a producer who did not do his "fact checking". The movie focused on sturgeon restoration, and it ended with one man (biologist) taking credit for many things he never did. Disappointing and dishonest. Post Your Own >> | Register >>
